The School of Media Studies, Hindustan College of Arts & Science is conducting the Dr. KCG Verghese Memorial Film Festival, a National Film Contest and International Film Screening since 2007. It has become a popular and prestigious event in the history of Hindustan Group of Institutions which is being conducted every year in MGR Hall, Hindustan University campus in the month of February. Students from media and communication institutions participate and witness this august event every year.
FILM CONTEST
Film contest is being conducted under categories like Short film, Documentary film and Advt film. The registration fee for each film is Rs.100/- which can be paid by DD or in cash in person. The films should not be already uploaded in any social networking sites like Youtube, facebook, etc. The contestant should be a bonafide current student of any institution. Every year we get entries all over India.
The procured films will be evaluated by a Jury Committee comprising of three members in the film industry. Nominated films will be screened during the festival according to the availability of time. Winners will be awarded with certificates and cash awards. The cash prizes are sponsored by the Dr. KCG Verghese Memorial Charitable Trust every year since its inception.

International Film Screening
This is an excellent opportunity for students to sit together and view a collection of movies from different genres. The movies are from the genres like World Cinema, Country Focus, Indian Panorama and Regional Cinema. Two days four films will be screened. There will be expert talks from the stalwart from the media industry with student interactions.
This year the program starts with the festival inauguration on
22nd February 2018 and closes with the Valedictory function on
23rd February 2018. The program concludes with the Prize winner honours ceremony.
The students of Electronic Media and Visual Communication from various city colleges who will form the major part of the audience would definitely benefit greatly from this exposure.
